MOBILITY BETWEEN ITALY AND INDIA: NEW INDIAN GUIDELINES (FROM 14 FEBRUARY) 2022)

As of Monday 14 February 2022 (and until further notice), new rules governing entry into India for international travellers will come into force:

There is no longer a seven-day fiduciary seclusion requirement at one’s residence on arrival. The obligation to carry out a swab on arrival at the airport in India is also withdrawn (only a random check on 2% of passengers on each flight is maintained).

– On the other hand, the requirement to register on the Indian Government’s Air Suvidha portal is maintained, as is the requirement to upload a negative molecular test report carried out within 72 hours prior to the flight.

INDIAN MINISTRY OF HEALTH GUIDELINES ON INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS IN INDIA

(Guidelines dated 10 February 2022, valid from 14 February 2022, until further notice)

The new guidelines provide for separate pre-departure compliances depending on the countries of origin, which are divided into: 1) Countries that have a reciprocity agreement with India on the recognition of vaccination certificates or exempt Indian citizens from the fiduciary isolation requirement; 2) Other countries.
Italy is currently NOT included in the list of countries n. 1.
Below are the procedures to be followed for passengers arriving from Italy.
The new guidelines confirm the pre-departure requirements already in force, regardless of the vaccination status of the passenger:
– obligation to upload on Air Suvidha portal (https://www.newdelhiairport.in/) a self-declaration of health and the certificate of negativity to the RT-PCR test performed in the 72 hours prior to the start of the trip;
As far as fulfilment on arrival is concerned, there is no longer a requirement to undergo a Covid-19 test at the airport. However, the Indian authorities will continue to carry out random checks on 2% of the passengers on each flight (swab on arrival with no obligation to wait for the result at the airport).
The requirement to observe a 7-day period of home confinement has also been lifted.
Passengers are required to observe a self-monitoring period of 14 days.
