The Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai is pleased to inform that two Italian women of God, both resident in India have been conferred with the Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Order of the Star of Italy) by the President of the Republic of Italy.
The honour was awarded to:
– Sister Giovanna Capra, known widely as Sister Bertilla, for her exemplary work as Director of the Vimala Dermatological Centre, a hospital working for curing leprosy, AIDS and tuberculosis.
– Sister Anna Maria Capiluppi, who heads the “House of Charity” in Mumbai, for her care, love and dedication to the weakest sections of society.
On behalf of the resident Italian community, this Consulate General extends it congratulations and its appreciation to both for the work they have undertaken for the uplift of the needy.
