According to the regulations, the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai can request the travelers who have used a Schengen visa to present themselves after returning.
The passport has to be presented personally at the VFS center where the application was submitted. Those who have submitted an application at the VFS Center in Mumbai, should present themselves directly at the Consulate General of Italy.
Failure to present as requested could result in serious consequences for the traveler, in case of future visa applications, as well as for the person inviting and, in case of business visas, for the inviting Italian company.
This regulation applies only to those who have a special comment on the visa sticker that specifies that they should present themselves personally on return.
