Italian Fashion Days in India: Mumbai celebrates Italian Fashion in the unique setting of the Ice Factory Ballard Estate

The Italian Fashion Days in Mumbai. The Consul General of Italy in Mumbai, Walter Ferrara, welcomed guests at the Ice Factory in Ballard Estate. Among the audience were founders and representatives of important companies in the sector, including Trussardi, Herno, Kiton, and Jato1991.

The evening began with a talk on Fashion and Finance organized by CRISIL. This was followed by Maria Silvia Sacchi from The Platform, a leading journalistic outlet in fashion, who hosted a one-to-one talk with Alberto Racca from the Miroglio and Trussardi Group and Claudio Marenzi from Herno-Montura. Afterwards, Carlo Capasa, President of the Camera della Moda Italiana, illustrated the system of fashion shows in Italian fashion. In conclusion, the students of Istituto Marangoni Mumbai organized a special fashion show to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the institute, in the presence of its Director, Tarun Panday.

The Giornate della Moda Italiana nel Mondo initiative was launched at the beginning of the year by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, as part of the “growth diplomacy” strategy promoted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and by ICE-Agency.

In their first edition, after the success achieved in Japan, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates, the GMIM have arrived in India, with three days of events in three cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.

In his opening speech, Consul General Ferrara underlined the importance of fashion in the relationship between Italy and India, and, speaking of Mumbai, he said: “In the Indian city of dreams, fashion has always been a staple element, and its multicultural and lively environment offers the perfect ground for experimenting between tradition and innovation.”
