The fourth edition of India Energy Week was held in Goa from 27 to 30 January 2026, reaffirming its position as one of the leading global events dedicated to the energy sector. Hosted at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Convention Centre, the event was promoted by the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI).

With 6,500 delegates, over 75,000 industry professionals, and more than 700 companies from 125 countries, the event once again confirmed its role as a strategic platform for global dialogue and multilateral engagement. At the political level, participants included India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, the UAE Minister of Industry Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, and Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unable to attend in person due to the simultaneous conclusion of negotiations on the EU–India Free Trade Agreement in New Delhi, addressed the forum remotely, outlining the national strategy aimed at moving “from energy security to energy independence.”

In his remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted the objective of mobilizing USD 500 billion in total energy investments, increasing refining capacity to 300 million tonnes per year (from the current 260 million), and raising the share of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the national energy mix to 15%.

The conference programme featured both strategic and technical sessions covering the entire energy spectrum: oil and natural gas, renewables, hydrogen, biofuels, electrification, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Among the most significant agreements announced were ONGC’s contracts with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Samsung Heavy Industries for the construction of new ethane carriers, the renewal of the agreement between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Petrobras for crude oil supply, and the Memorandum of Understanding signed between India and Canada to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, with the objective of doubling sectoral trade by the end of the decade.

On the Italian side, the Consul General of Italy in Mumbai, Walter Ferrara, participated in the proceedings on behalf of the Ambassador of Italy, accompanying a qualified delegation of Italian companies active across the entire energy and industrial value chain. During the event, meetings were held with senior officials of the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, including Deputy Director General Dheeraj Kumar Ojha, as well as with top executives of state-owned enterprises, including the Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd, Kamal Kishore Chatiwal.

The Italian companies in attendance showcased expertise and advanced technologies in areas such as low-emission industrial processes, renewable energy, technical certification, high-performance mechanical components, biomass and cogeneration plants, advanced engineering solutions, and sustainable mobility. Italy’s participation highlighted the country’s contribution to the development and modernization of energy and industrial infrastructure, as well as the prospects for further bilateral economic and technological cooperation.

India Energy Week forms part of India’s broader strategy to consolidate its role as a major player in the global energy landscape, within an international context characterized by the tension between security of supply, affordability, decarbonization, and geopolitical instability.

The next edition of the event will once again be held in Goa in 2027, confirming its value as a strategic platform for international dialogue and for promoting Italy’s contribution to global energy transition processes.
