Consolidating cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges is one of the important axes of relations between Italy and India.
Being both heirs of ancient civilizations, but also young democracies, Italy and India share the same need to preserve their immense cultural heritage and traditions, with a special focus on innovation.
Cultural relations between Italy and India hinge on tradition and innovation, creative industries, entertainment, design and Made in Italy, classical and contemporary art. Our two countries boast a great cultural heritage together with a vibrant and increasingly innovative creative industry internationally. Culture and creativity constitute a fundamental dimension of Italy’s and India’s soft power.
Italy also hosts the largest Indian community in the European Union which already actively operates in the Italian economic ecosystem and is progressively enriched by an ever-growing number of students and workers from India who choose Italy for their studies and professional.
Particular attention is dedicated to the teaching of the Italian language and to exchange opportunities between Italian and Indian students and researchers, both through the action of the network of Italian Cultural Institutes in India (New Delhi and Mumbai), and also through the contribution of Uni-Italia, the Italian consultancy agency for the promotion of Italian higher education abroad.
