Upon the ordinance of the Minister of Health of 28 April 2022, from 1 May 2022 entry into Italy from India will take place under the following conditions:
– absence of Covid-19 symptoms;
– presentation, upon departure, of a valid COVID-19 green certification or other valid equivalent certification.
COVID-19 green certification means:
– certification proving completion of primary vaccination cycle (2 doses) against SARS-CoV-2,
– certification proving administration of booster vaccine dose against SARS-CoV-2,
– certification proving recovery after a SARS-CoV-2 infection,
– certification proving the negative result of a rapid or molecular antigen test,
issued by a country of the European Union or by one of the 33 countries whose vaccination certificates are recognized by the European Union.
Equivalent certification means:
– certification proving completion of primary vaccination cycle (2 doses) against SARS-CoV-2 or administration of booster dose, with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (BioNTech & Pfizer, Novavax, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson), or with a vaccine considered equivalent in Italy including Covidshield;
– certification proving recovery after a SARS-CoV-2 infection,
– certification proving the negative result of a rapid antigen or molecular test
issued by the competent health authorities of a third country, such as India.
For the purposes of entry into Italy, the certification is deemed valid as follows:
if issued after a complete vaccination cycle (2 doses) – 270 from the date of the second dose
if issued after booster – valid until further notice
if issued after recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection – 180 from the date of the first positive test
if issued after recovery from an infection developed after a full cycle (2 doses) of vaccination – valid until further notice
if issued after a rapid antigen test – 48 hours from the testing
if issued after a molecular test – 72 hours from the testing
Travellers not in possession of said certification or whose certification has expired will have to undergo:
– upon arrival in Italy, to five-day quarantine at the address indicated in the Passenger Locator Form;
– at the end of the quarantine period, to molecular or antigenic test (nasal, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal). This obligation does not apply to children under the age of 6.
Children accompanying parents not subject to quarantine are also exempt from quarantine.
