On 11-12 June the Consul General of Italy in Mumbai, Walter Ferrara, carried out a mission in Goa, Indian State under the jurisdiction of our Consulate General in Mumbai.

The central moment of the visit was the inauguration of the first production plant in Asia, the seventh worldwide, of the Eurostampa Group, an Italian company specialized in the production of high-quality labels, among the top companies in the sector at global level. The event was an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Italy and India, in the presence of institutional representatives, including the Minister of Industry of Goa, Mauvin Godinho, and the Chairman of GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) and member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, as well as local entrepreneurs, who emphasized the strategic importance of this new business expansion, which represents the largest Italian investment in Goa. “Italian technology combined with Indian talent finds a perfect synthesis in this plant, generating local employment opportunities, skill development, and know-how transfer” Consul General Walter Ferrara stated in his speech.

The event also provided an opportunity for side meetings with the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, and the Chief Secretary, Candavelou, with whom Consul General Ferrara discussed the implementation of the Joint Action Plan which was signed last November by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as the definition of new cultural projects to be carried out in the State of Goa.

Another significant moment of the mission was the tour of the Museum of Christian Civilization in the Old City, a place of great historical value that testifies the cultural influences in the region. The Consul General also visited the Sunaparanta Cultural and Artistic Foundation, meeting representatives of the local artistic field and emphasizing the role of culture as a bridge between peoples.

Finally, a meeting was held, together with our Honorary Vice Consul, Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo, with some representatives of the Italian community, a valuable opportunity for a discussion on consular services and the issues of our community, which is well-rooted in the territory of Goa.

This mission in Goa has proved the commitment of our Consulate General of Italy in promoting and supporting new Italian business projects, not only in the city of Mumbai, but across all its jurisdiction, which includes six States in south-west India.
