Documents to be submitted
- Application for registration of the birth certificate (Download the updated form);
- The child’s birth certificate, issued by the competent authorities of the Indian State in which the child was born and legalised with an Apostille, duly translated into Italian (see list of recommended translators);
- Photocopies of the parents’ and child’s passports or valid identity documents (passport or Aadhaar card);
In addition:
- Full birth certificate of the Italian parent, issued by the Italian Municipality where the parent was born;
- Historical certificate of residence issued by the Italian Municipalities where the parent resided;
- Certificate issued by the competent authorities of the foreign country of origin and of each foreign country to which the parent emigrated, duly legalised/apostilled and accompanied by a certified Italian translation, confirming that the Italian parent had, at the relevant time, renounced their original citizenship and had not acquired the citizenship of the foreign country of emigration prior to the child’s birth.
