Documents to be submitted
- Application for transcription of the birth certificate (Download the new updated form);
- Minor’s birth certificate, issued by the competent authorities of the Indian State in which the minor was born and legalised by Apostille, duly translated into Italian (see list of reference translators);
- Photocopies of the passports or valid identity documents of the parents and the minor (passport or Aadhaar card);
Furthermore:
- Historical certificate of residence (certificato storico di residenza) issued by the Italian municipalities (Comuni) where the Italian parent has resided (or by both municipalities, if both parents are Italian);
- Only if the Historical Certificate of Residence (certificato storico di residenza) indicates periods of residence abroad: Declaration of non-naturalisation, legalised by Apostille or by consular legalisation (for countries that have not signed the 1961 Hague Convention), duly translated into Italian by an official translation, issued by the authorities of all countries in which the Italian parents have resided;
- If one of the two parents was born in a foreign country or holds another citizenship or other citizenships: Certificate of non-transmission of citizenship to the minor, in original, legalised and translated into Italian, issued by the authorities of the country of birth of the parent and/or by the authorities of the country or countries of which the parent holds another citizenship;
- Any Certificate of Statelessness issued by the competent foreign authorities of the country of birth of the minor, in original, legalised and translated into Italian.
