Emergency Travel Documents (ETD)

The ETD (Emergency Travel document) is a temporary document that allows you to return to Italy if you do not have a passport due to problems of any kind (if it has been lost, stolen or damaged, or if it has expired recently and it is not possible to wait for a new issue).

To obtain the ETD it is necessary to present the form here along with a copy of an identity document, two passport-sized photographs with a white background, a copy of the report issued by the local police in case of loss or theft, a copy of the travel ticket, privacy policy (download here), and ETD fee that varies quarterly can be paid by bank transfer (bank details downloaded at this link) or on-site by QR Code.

We point out that, in the absence of the passport with which you had entered India and to which the entry visa was inevitably linked, it is necessary, in order to leave the country, to apply to the local authorities for   the so-called EXIT PERMIT. The application can only be submitted online on the dedicated website of the Government of India e-FRRO Home (indianfrro.gov.in)

The ETD is valid for only seven days, therefore the issue of the ETD and the online request for the exit permit must take place in a very short time and fall within the period of validity of the ETD.
