It is possible to avail of notary services at Italian Representations abroad (Legislative Decree N.71/2011) only for Italian citizens.
A) Signing before a consular officer:
The deed should be drawn up by a trusted italian notary and must be sent via email in word format which, once compatible with the consular format, will be ready for signature. An appointment will then be fixed for the applicant to visit the consulate. The applicant must carry his passport. The cost of the power of attorney varies quarterly and will be informed at the time of fixing an appointment.
B) Signature before a local Notary:
It is necessary to find a local professional, have the deed drawn up in English and then have it legalized by the home department, completed with the Apostille (as per the Hague Convention of 1961, see attachment) along with the translation in Italian. We will then certify only the translation in italian.
Another possibility allows you to sign the deed directly in two languages. It is necessary to identify a Notary who once having drafted the deed in English, would be able to to add the Italian translation next to the original. Finalized in this manner, and once signed, it will then be legalized at the Home Department, thus equipped with an Apostille.
At that point, the document will also be valid in Italy without any addition of further certification by this Office.
For further information on local attestations refer to the attachment APOSTILLE INFO.
