Italian Citizenship

In case you are residing in this jurisdiction you can apply  for Italian citizenship through this consulate General of Italy.

Here the list of documents to be produced:

 

  • your present passport
  • your birth certificate, legalized and completed with Apostille stamp and Italian translation (in case of documents issued outside India, kindly note that the same needs to be legalized by the competent local authority, translated into Italian and attested by the Italian Consular Authority in the Country)
  • your police clearance certificate (PCC) legalized and completed with Apostille Stamp and Italian translation.

(Note that you need to produce the so called PCC, issued by the police authority, of each town where you have been living since the age of 14).In case of documents issued outside India, kindly note that the same needs to be legalized by the competent local authority, translated into Italian and attested by the Italian Consular Authority in the Country.

  • A proficiency diploma in Italian language (see below***)
  • A fee of € 250/- has to be paid   through PagoPA directly from the portal at the time of submission of the application.
  • Data protection format to be signed and returned

 

Kindly note that the name on all the documents have to match the one appearing on the Marriage Certificate and – wherever there are discrepancies – the so called “one and the same” certificate will be needed (this is usually issued in India by the Registrar office or by the Panchayat or   by the Tehsildar).

 

As per the Marriage certificate: Kindly get the certificate from the Italian Comune where the same has been celebrated/ registered.

 

As per the other document such:

– Family Composition certificate

– Citizenship certificate of the Italian spouse

they will be issued from this office if your wife/husband is registered with us in AIRE. If this is not the case the Italian spouse will have to furnish the said documents or provide a suitable self-declaration (along with a copy of his/her passport) about the same.

In attachment the form to be used for this purpose (Dichiarazione sostitutiva certificazione Mumbai).

Once all the documents are ready, they will be submitted here for the attestation of true translation and then returned to the applicant.

Only then you will be able to upload the entire application and all the documents, online, on https://cittadinanza.dlci.interno.it

 

***Kindly note that a very new rule (dated 4 December 2018) has established that in order to submit your citizenship application, a proficiency diploma in Italian language, stating the knowledge of the Italian language, not below the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), must be submitted along with the rest of the documents.
